Thinking Thursday

It's summer and I've come up with some fun activities to keep these kids busy, their minds entertained and most importantly my sanity in check!  Thursdays are for THINKING.  We had a little experiment with eggs.
Here is our plain ordinary run of the mill uncooked egg.
We put it in some vinegar and let is sit for day.
The vinegar dissolves the entire shell off the egg and leave it a little rubbery and slightly bouncy.  He can even see through it.  They smelled pretty stinky and felt even more bizarre!
And then we broke it...and the smell was HORRENDOUS!!!   Gross-a-rini!

Peek a boo

I am loving how interactive this little stinker stu is!!  He LOVES his blanket.  It's the blanket my mom made for Jack.  It was Jack's blanket until Jaden stole it.  But now that he LOVES his blue blankie...the white one was up for grabs gain.  Cole was quick to snatch it up...and get under it!
He LOVES to hide in it and pull the covers over his little head and then off again when he sees you coming.
But he mostly loves to chew on the little edges.  Don't worry, I won't let Cole turn this blanket into a "dodie"!  :)

Happy Father's Day 2013

I certainly love this husband of mine!!  Happy Father's day to the best daddy on earth!!

These boys can NEVER get enough of him!  We made him a breakfast casserole and gave him a few treats along with a gift certificate for golfing.
I love how he loves to spend time with them.
They play so hard that even Coby gets tuckered out!
Coby is really the most amazing dad EVER!  He always takes the time to play with them and really show them he is as in love with them as they are with him.  Coby's always been a GREAT vacation planner.  He always says that he never feels bad about spending money on family trips.  I love that he loves us and wants to always make fun memories together as a family.  He's amazing and I know that these boys love him more than they could ever say!

Happy Father's day to two more amazing dads...mine and Coby's.  My dad and I have always been close.  He is still one of my very best friends.  He's fun and always up for an adventure no matter how insane it is!  I think he thinks the more dangerous the better!  He refuses to get old and is always looking for a basketball game with younger guys...then he schools them!  He is very kind and generous and is always will to help.  He never does anything with the expectation of a "thank you."  He's a good guy and I feel so lucky to be his daughter!  I hope he's proud of the girl I've turned out to be.

We miss our sweet Jim.  It's Father's Day and he should be here.  I hate that's he's not.  I know he's close...but that's not the same thing as being HERE!  Coby misses him terribly.  He still needed his dad.    Jim died way too soon.  62 is just not old!  We still needed like 30 more years.  Jim was the most genuine, patient and incredible man I've been blessed to know.  He always honored his priesthood.  He was the BEST example and most honest man I've met.  Jim always had a way of making you feel important.  He listened genuinely to everything you had to say.  One thing I always admired about him was his ability to think through what he wanted to say before saying.  VERY opposite of me...I just spout out whatever it is I'm thinking.  We miss you Jim!  Happy Father's Day, you did an amazing job helping to raise 5 pretty neat kids!  One in particular!

LOVE you Coby, dad and Jim!  Happy Father's day to the best dad's I know!

Father's Day Hike

It was such a nice day that we decided to take the boys hiking in the canyon.
It was Cole's first hike and I think he LOVED it!  I know the older 2 could have stayed up there all day!
We've had a hot summer so far, so we were a little warm as the hike started.  Jaden thought he needed to dip his head in the water!  Look at my talented Coby helping him to dunk his head with a baby on his back!  I think Cole was loving the view!
We even got to see a little nature!  A little rattlesnake was curled up on a tree off the trail.  We all got a good look and then decided to leave when Corbin suggested we throw rocks at it to "wake it up so it could come out and play..."  NO THANK YOU...I do NOT want to play with your fangs mr. rattlesnake!
So, down the mountain we went back.
Coby was able to capture this view from the top.  Isn't it gorgeous!!
There were TONS of wild flowers, so we pick a many as we could and brought them back for our sweet Poppy.
This was the first time we've seen Jim's Headstone.  It's so surreal to think that he's gone.  I hate it.  I hate that it's Father's Day and Coby's dad is gone.  I hate that Joanne has to deal with losing her other half for the rest of her life.  It's just not fair.  We miss him.  Oh, how we miss that man.  I hope that he was close today and knows just how much we are aching to see him again.  Happy Father's Day Jim!

Riding bikes at Nana's

My mom typically takes the boys overnight a couple times a month.  They have a big breakfast Saturday morning and then usually head down to the park down from her house.  Today they wanted to ride bikes....
Only... Corbin only had his 1st bike EVER there...but don't worry, that didn't deter him from riding it despite it's size!  :)  This bike makes me laugh every single time I think about Corbin riding it when he was younger.  The peddles are so small, that he was constantly pumping his cute little legs. I can still picture it and it makes me laugh still!  :)

Make it Monday

It's officially the start of Summertime!  We have about 10 weeks to fill up doing fun things before school starts again in the fall.  I decided that I didn't want to just sit inside doing nothing but keeping cool this summer.  So, each day we have an agenda.  Monday is: MAKE it Monday
Tuesday is:  Take a TRIP Tuesday
Wednesday is:  Get WET Wednesday
Thursday is:  THINKING Thursday
and last but not least
Friday is:  FRIENDLY Friday
Over the weekend I got a bunch of fun wood things that could use a little "color".  So...out the paints came for "Make it Monday"
Corb painted a basket.
Jaden painted a picture frame.
I painted a basket, little chalkboard and some sort of wood with a little ledge...as you can clearly see, for my cute little Baker's Rack on the porch.

We had a fun time!  I wonder where we'll go tomorrow for Take a TRIP Tuesday....  Guess you'll just have to wait and see.

South Jordan Soccer - Monte Vista

OH, I could just eat that cute little Soccer Player UP!
With the move, we didn't have time to sign Corbin up for a soccer team in Murray this year.  But we talked to a few people in the new ward and we able to finish up half the season in South Jordan.  Corbin joined the Monte Vistas...and I have to say...he was pretty GREAT!
He rocked it and made two goals on the last game of the season.
He also made a few buddies too!
Here he is just before he nailed the ball into the net!  I think he was about to Bend it like Beckham...but he didn't want to come off as too much of a showoff!  :)
What did Jaden do you ask...besides NOT get dressed?

 Making "friends"...
He stole Poochie's hats...
Sat on Nana's lap....briefly
OR, made each of us race him to the Gazebo OVER and OVER again.

I'm so proud of my little Corbin this year!  He's quite a little athlete and a GREAT team player!

Coleson's 6 month checkup

Here's my sweet little...CHUNKY 6 month old!

Isn't he cute with those fat rolls and little dimples??!!!  I can hardly get enough of him!  I wonder if he's sick my kissing him every single chance I get!  I just can't help it...he's so squishy!
Today at his 6 month check up he had to get shots.  ALOT of shots!  One oral and the other 5 by needle.  Apparently, they ran out of a couple of the shots that could be combined into one shot...SO, he got all five at once!  Poor little guy!  He was NOT a Happy Camper!

His stats this month are:
20lbs =  95%
27 inches long = 75%
and 20 inches for his head = 75%

He sure is fun!  HEAVY, but fun!  He likes to eat these little fruit packets of food that he can just suck down.  He loves pasta and it's so adorable the way he just sucks into his little mouth.  He loves to try and drink out of whatever cup you are drinking from.  He definitely knows the sound of my voice and looks for me all over the room if he hears it.  Then regardless of how happy he was before he starts whining until I'm holding him!  I think this is the beginning of a LONG road ahead for me! He loves to watch his brothers.  He loves to army crawl and he's getting pretty fast at it.  He loves to try and eat paper.  It's really hard to change his diaper because he wants to turn onto his belly and try to get away.  He's learning to turn the light switch that turns his ceiling fan on and off.  He loves the white blankie that was once's Jack's and Jaden's.  He loves to put the little edges on his face, like Jaden.  He HATES and I mean HATES his carseat.  He's getting better at taking naps on a schedule, but if he gets a power nap, it's almost impossible for him to go back to sleep.  :(  for me!  I think I'm running out of milk and it's a good thing he's starting to take a bottle.  Speaking of sleep, he's still not sleeping through the night.  I believe this is an error on my part.  I'm sure he could do it, but it will require us to ferberize him.  Something we didn't have to do with Jaden.  :(  I really dislike the ferberizing method because I hate to hear him cry.  It's so sad.  His hair is RED...that's right...RED.  It's too soon to say whether or not it will fall out and be blond like the others, a strawberry blond like my dad or if this RED is going to be a permanent thing.  When he wants to be picked up he starts flapping his arms.  He loves to sit up and can do it by himself very well.  Sometimes it looks like he's working on his core.  I think he has abs somewhere under all those belly rolls!  Until the next checkup...that's it for now.

Cole's 6 month Check up

Just loving this Colie Pokie!!  He is still nursing.  And obviously, he's a PRO!  He loves that white blankie.  It was Jack's.  Then we lent it to Jaden who named it White Blankie.  He carried around both White Blankie and Blue Blankie...and finallly settled on keeping Blue Blankie.  Cole loves the edges of this blanket, just like Jaden.  He's super fun!  Loves to laugh, eat and NOT take a bottle!  :(  Rats...I waited too long!  He loves his brothers and is FINALLY starting to like baths!  He's pretty good about taking naps, but still wakes up to nurse every night.

Today he went to his 6 month checkup....he had to get extra shots because they were out of the ones where they combine them all into one shot.  Poor baby!  I hate shots!!!

Here are his stats:
Height:  27.7 inches  / 90th%
Weight:  19.8 lbs  / 90%
Head:  17.6 inches / 100%

So...as you can see he's LARGE in every way!  Look at the size of his head...thank goodness I can only deliver via c-section!

Opening Bear Lake

It's time to OPEN the Cabin at Bear Lake!!!  YAAAAY!!!
Joanne put is all in charge of "Something" that needed cleaning or organizing.  As the boys were cleaning up the yard, a yucky rotting old skunk was discovered.  NO one wanted to move it...so Joanne said, "I am the MOTHER, I do NOT shovel Skunks!!!  It was pretty funny and HAD to make the chalkboard!!
He even got a new friend...Honey got a little puppy named Rosie that she rescued from Furburbia in Park City.
I don't think I've ever seen a little doggy love someone like Rosie loves her Honey!  And just in time, Joanne, I think needed her just as much.  They are a perfect little match!  Joanne is definitely Rosie's "person"!

Poor Rosie...she got LOTS and LOTS of love...maybe even a little too much love!
While the adults worked, the kids worked too...getting dirty in the sand!
Taking breaks in chairs...
The boys put together a swingset.  I was busy too...watching!  Coby once told me shortly after we were married and were trying to paint our front livingroom, "You know, I think I really did marry my mother!"  Taking that as TOTALLY a compliment I said, "Really...why?"  And his response was, "She liked to watch me work too..!!!"  That little stinker!!!
The kids flew the plane...and I can't tell, but I think Corbin looks like it may be in a little bit of distress!!!
Love that smile on Livvy Loo!
I think Tyson was getting hungry!
Here's us girls just doing what we do best...hanging out and relaxin' by the lake...the beautiful beautiful lake!
Coby and Lance bought a Jet Ski for the summer from Ben.  Livvy and Lance are giving it a little test ride.  Livvs loved it!  I can't wait to get the boys out on it this summer!  Coby even thinks he'll be able to teach Jaden to ski behind it.
But at the end of the day, my boys were pretty tuckered out!

We love coming to Bear Lake.  We are so grateful for the fun memories we are so blessed to have because of the Cabin.  Thank you Honey and Poppy!  (He's still there you know...even if we can't quite see him...boy do we miss him.)
