A tribute to a true angel

Today was one of those hard days. The kind of day where you know that deep down you should be rejoicing because someone you know, someone you love so much it hurts has crossed over and successfully completed their "test" of life. Today we buried my sweet Grandma Burton. I wanted to write a post that help me and my family remember her better. I wanted my boys to be able to look back and KNOW what a truly amazing Angel on Earth she was/is. So this is a tribute to her...one more guardian angel I have looking over our little family.

(My grandma's home town of Afton, (Star Valley) Wyoming

Where do I begin to even describe what an amazing, humble and truly beautiful woman she was...is?! I think it will be impossible, but I'm going to try anyway. My cute Grandma Burton (Rene' Walker Burton) has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can even remember. She's always been funny, quick witted and inspiring. She's the type of lady that I aspired to be like "when I grew up", even as a little girl. I remember that my Grandma made the best Sponge Cake on the face of the planet. I remember the day she and grandpa taught us to play a game called "Chicken Foot." They loved it and were quite good at it!

We all loved playing it with them! Grandma and Grandpa NEVER missed an opportunity to show us that they loved us unconditionally. To tell us that they loved us unconditionally. They came to every baptism, baby blessing, wedding, graduation, endowment and mission farewell in their good old trusty van. Never did they miss an opportunity to serve. They never missed a birthday despite the fact that they had sooo many to keep up with as our Burton family grew and grew.

Never did they judge. Constantly they turned the other cheek when they were burned over and over again by those happy to take advantage of their endless kindness. Never did they do something with the expectation of "Thank You." They just did it because that's the kind of people they were and are. Constantly serving others. They both served for years and years in numerous temples. They enjoyed being together and especially serving not only everyone around them, but each other as well. In just over a month they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Although her talented hands were scarred from years of arthritis, she never gave it a second thought as she meticulously made every grandchild, great grandchild the most BEAUTIFULLY handcrafted quilts, blankets, clothes and even ties. I am so happy that we have them to remember her by. They will continue to keep us warm throughout the years even though she's gone. I will always treasure them.

She had the voice of an angel. She could even hit that really high note in the Christmas Carol, "Oh Holy Night." She was known for her love of music in all degrees. I will forever picture her in my mind playing the organ in sacrament or playing the piano and singing beautifully. I remember how her chin moved up and down as her voice made that beautiful vibrato sound. I didn't know then, but would eventually give anything to do on my own. I wish with all my heart that I didn't laugh at her when I was little and didn't understand that people pay thousands and thousands of dollars to sound only a fraction of how angelic she did. She told me once that it really hurt her feelings and thinking that I caused her pain absolutely breaks my heart.

Grandma Burton was the most genuinely kind person (next to my Grandpa of course) that I think I have ever had the privilege of knowing.

Lanae and I made a little star with pictures all over it. No matter what...she loved homemade presents...even if they did look like the kids made it. She cherished each and every sentiment given.

I remember another time that I broke her newly finished clay pot she had made. I didn't want to tell her that it had been me that broke it, but when I saw how upset it made her told her the truth. She didn't yell. She didn't punish me. She simply sat me down and talked to me. I wonder how I would have handled it if it was my freshly made pot and Corbin broke it. Would I have yelled and put him in time out and made him feel just awful? I'm thinking that unfortunately I just might have.

Grandma and Grandpa Burton have always had the most amazing stories regarding promptings they've had over the years. One such time was a number of years back when they lived in Albany, LA. They lived on the "farm" as we all referred to it as. They lived down a long gravel road and had tons of land that even included a swamp...(it's LA...what did you expect?!!). One night when my grandma was coming home from a music lesson she got a strong impression NOT to go into her home. My grandpa was away on business and she was home alone. As she drove down the bumpy gravel road the impression came a 2nd time. She told herself that she felt this way since she would be alone that night and there was really nothing to fear. She felt that she was merely working herself up. As she pulled up to the house the impression came again, only stronger. She told herself again that there was NOTHING to fear. She opened her car door and put one foot on the gravel driveway and the impression came back so strongly that she decided to listen and put her foot back in the car and drove away. She drove around for about an hour and then decided to return home. As she did a feeling of peace came over her and she felt safe to enter her home. She said that she felt as if someone had been there and thus put a chair up against the doors...just in case. She slept well that night. The next morning as she was getting the mail she ran into her neighbor who said...."Did you hear about that rapist who had escaped? They caught him about a mile up the road in the swamp." Chills came over her (and me as she told me that story) and she KNEW that the Lord had blessed her. Another time as she was driving in their home town of Columbus, OH she was driving a pick up truck. Upon stopping at a red light she felt strongly impressed to lock her car doors. She didn't hesitate and did as she was prompted. As she leaned over to lock the passenger side door a very rugged scary man was at the door trying to get in. Scary huh?! Once while she lived on the previously mentioned farm the cows got out of the pasture. She went out to call them back. As she was walking she felt prompted NOT to put her foot down. The heel of her foot was down and her toes were up, ready to finish her step. She look down and saw a great big cottonmouth snake (POISONOUS) with it's jaws gaping wide.

Had she had finished that step, it would have been directly into the mouth of that poisonous snake. She took a few steps back and told the snake to "shew" and luckily it did. Another instance particularly holds a special place in my heart. One morning as she was getting herself and her 6 or 7 kids ready. She noticed that her youngest daughter Becky was nowhere to be found. She looked and looked. (Much like the afternoon I did for my sweet Jack). Then she looked out her window and saw Becky, face down in a puddle of water. She ran to her. She found her, not breathing, lips blue. A memory I am sure will never stop haunting me. She told me that she knew Becky was gone. She said a prayer, did CPR and seconds later Becky came to. Becky lived. Her nightmare was only seconds long and didn't have any lasting consequences. Becky was not called home and allowed to live here on Earth. How blessed I felt as she told me this story so many years ago. I wish our outcome would have been the same, but know deep down that the Lord needed Jack more than we must have. One other time when she was only a mother to 2 little boys (my uncle Kent and dad) she had another horrifying experience. Her boys were being boys and wandered off. She looked and looked for them and couldn't find them anywhere. The lived a short distance from a train track. As she was frantically searching for her two little boys she heard the train whistle. "Toooooooooot... Tooooooooooot...Toot Toot". That is the sound the train engineer makes when there is something on the tracks. And she KNEW where they were. No mother could have run faster...I know...I know all too well the speed at which she must have run. I'm sure she had angels helping her along. She knew that she'd never make it in time...what a horrible feeling that must have been. As she got closer she saw a man (maybe he was an angel) grab both of her boys who were playing on the tracks literally seconds before the train crossed. She would have been too late if it weren't for this wonderful man acting on the prompting he must have been given. She scooped up both of her boys and held them close as she sobbed knowing that the Lord had greater purposes for both of them. Little did she know that the youngest of those little boys (my dad) would go on to make her insane with his obsession for snakes...both poisonous and non-poisonous. She had to make her way the principal's office a bit more than most mom's because of it! And still she adored him! But let's be honest here...if you have met my dad you can understand why she forgave him so often. He's quite the charmer of people as well as snakes! :)

She loves her family equally...every single person no matter who good or bad. Even if they were technically no longer part of our family, it never stopped her or Grandpa from sending them cards for every occasion. Once they were in...they were STUCK there!

My mom used to say that I looked alot like my Aunt Jo and my grandma (both pictured above). I like to think that I got a few things from her. Her nose...which I'm happy to an heir to! :) Her good "supply" for a chubby baby! :) I like to think I'm kind of funny...sometimes...and I think I get it from my dad who got it from my Grandma. I'll forever picture her with curlers in her hair, blue eye shadow, rouge, and the smell of aqua net hair spray.

Throughout my grandparent's marriage I never saw them quarrel. Never saw them belittle one another. Never was there any unnecessary bickering. But there was the occasional playful banter. Grandma always had trouble with her sinuses. After several surgeries left her without her sense of smell and some of the fat from her stomach used for a skin graph on her forehead, they both found humor in the situation. My grandpa told me that he liked to call her "fat head". The day he told me that, grandma had woken up that morning with a crick in her neck. After the "fat head" story he told me that she was from the "stiff-necked" generation (Book of Mormon). I can still picture her cute face as he related these stories to me. Her big beautiful brown eyes wide and her cute little lips pouting as she said..."You see how mean he is....!" Then they'd both giggle. Oh how I'll miss that giggle.

Grandma was always so full of life and fun witted pranks. They lived in Blackfoot, ID and what's ID famous for??!! POTATOES! One Monday morning my grandma decided to use up the leftover baked potatoes from Sunday's dinner for breakfast. She was taking the peelings off the potatoes onto a dirty plate she brought in from outside. The rain had caused some of the dirt from the plant to reside on the bottom of the plate and she had planned to wash it. My grandpa noticed that she was taking the peelings off and apparently made a big enough deal about not wanting to waste them. Without a thought or even a word, my grandma simple scraped up the peelings from the dirty plate keep in mind, straight into the pan she was planning to cook with the newly peeled leftover potatoes....DIRT and ALL! Then she served it to him....and sat down to enjoy his reaction as he figured out what she had done. After he had finished eating and picking out the GRIT from the back of his teeth. He looked at her and said..."Rene', I can't understand it...I washed those potatoes as clean as I thought I could get them....and I'm STILL finding bits of dirt in my teeth!" With that she smiled that cute little devious smile and showed him just what she had done. As they shared this story with me...my grandpa said..."You SEE...she's trying to kill me!!!" They we all had a good laugh.

My grandparents have always been the type of couple I've always dreamed of becoming. They have always been kind and thoughtful to one another. Their marriage was blessed and their home was a home of love and much laughter. The kindness and consideration they constantly showed one another could only be compared to President Hinkley and his loving companion Marjorie. I think I was more sad when she died, knowing hard it would be for President Hinkley. That is how I feel about my Grandpa having to continue on this earthly journey without her hand to hold. How grateful I am for the knowledge and sweet peace the gospel brings into our family. I know that he'll be with her again. I know that she's close. I know that she's with my sweet Jack and that together they are anxiously awaiting our family's homecoming. I like to think that Jack was among the slew of angels there to take her back home.

They both loved fruit and loved to smile and laugh even more. There's a smile...a couple smiles I can't wait to see.

Until then, it's hard. I miss both of them more than words will ever fully express. My heart is broken.

The 7 stages...

Hiney, Caboose, Trunk, Booty, Bum, Tushy, Fanny, badonkadonk, Derriere, Rear End, or even the famous Arse...call it what you want but when does it go back the way it "used" to be??!!

Stage 1: Denial

This is the stage where you see your butt as quite simply the "same" as it has always been...BEFORE you ever thought about having kids! It's called "pregnancy" goggles...or "Beer" googles, and believe me...I WORE MINE RELIOUSLY!! It's the type of goggles used to see yourself where you look freakin' AMAZING! You see your butt as what Jennifer Lopez deemed just about as perfect as a butt can be and insured hers for 8 million dollars! :)

Stage 2: Shock

This is when you see pictures post pregnancy and finally realize that you weren't as cute as you remember. It's when you go to put on those little size 2's and you look in the mirror to see the "damage" and wonder how long it's actually "been" like that! Have I really been walking around with this "THING" following me this WHOLE time??!!

Stage 3: Anger

Okay, Okay...Fine so it's not exactly the same butt you seem to have "dreamed" up as REAL!! It’s not the same butt....so what!. It's way more curvy and has a few more divots and new places that sweat. Worst of all...it seems to FOLLOW you around EVERYWHERE!! Stupid, obnoxious butt with your tag along best friend...aka...cellulite! Um....I wonder if it's possible to get a restraining order to prevent it from constantly stalking you?

Stage 4: Depression

RATS! It turns out you CAN'T get a restraining order against a larger, more protruding part of your own body! And if you even think about telling people about your rather JUSTIFIABLE request... people laugh at you. Which in turn makes you cry. Afterall...who actually enjoys being laughed AT! RUDE!!! So what that you are nine months postpartum and the jeans you wore up until the day you delivered look better THEN than they do now! And the fact that you are 3 pounds HEAVIER NOW than the day you came home from delivering a 7.2 lb baby boy! Those lying liars who said “nine months on, nine months off” must have gotten to keep their original cute butt. You know who you are...LANAE, WHIT and APRILL!!

Stage 5: Guilt

What am I complaining about?!! I am a healthy, strong, fun-whitted girl capable of ANYTHING!! I'm not just some "hot body"...I have a brain....(if you're laughing at that last statement...then I secretly holding up three fingers...read BETWEEN the lines and guess which one's for you?!!) I've read more books than I can count that tell me just what an "asset" I am to society. I co-created life! I'm "Ashton Kutcher...I'm awesome!" And yet…this butt...SIMPLY REFUSES TO HIT THE ROAD!!

Stage 6: Fear

It's not for certain, but I may have a newly discovered disease called..."Flesh Expanding Butt Disease"...FEBD for short. It’s fairly rare and not many people are even aware that it's out there, but if you get FEBD, statistics show that your derriere will eventually consume your entire body, preventing you from leading any sort of a normal life. And the worst part of all...scientists/doctors have yet to find a cure for this cruel, cruel disease! In fact, the only advice doctors have given is to head to TJ Maxx buy a bunch of sweatpants.

Stage 7: Acceptance

If you know me...you know that I try to find SOME ray of hope...my new butt does come with a few good features.
1. It’s easier to close the car door now.
2. Corbin definitely has something to hang on when I'm at Smiths.
3. And last but not least...Coby likes it...I think.

In short...I think this new "growth" may just be growing on me...quite literally in fact!

**interesting fact**

Donkeys kill more people each year than than car crashes and sharks. So...watch your A**!!

Moab 1/2 Marathon

Som and I SPRINTING in!

The final stretch with the four "commies" **Anne...that one was for YOU**

My BIGGEST Fans....you may not be able to see one of them (Jackie) ...he was on my right side or was it my left?? encouraging me every single step of the way! Wish I could have seen him cheering me on at the finish line with my favorite boys in the whole world! I know he was there. I like to imagine that he had that BIG cheezy grin on his face and that his hair was a little crazy (think of kid from "Meet the Robinsons") He was there...I know it!

Whit did AWESOME! She finished in just over 2 hours! Not too shabby! Way to go Whit!

Anne ROCKED it too! Her IT bands gave her a little trouble, but look at that smile! She DID it!

There's my baby! Ya, he has crusty snot stuck to his face...but he's happy! :)

Here's cute little family picture...minus me!

The "infamous" bike ride!

Corbin was bummed that he didn't get to go on the "ride". Maybe next time...next time as in 12 years from now!!
Back in January Anne Hansen talked me into running the Moab 1/2 marathon. I am NO marathoner...that's for certain, but I needed somthing to train for...so finally after alot of convincing...I agreed. I've been training for months now. It hasn't been easy...but I've learned that my body can handle a lot more than I gave it credit for. My cute sister Sommer immediately stepped up to my request (demands) of entering the race. She didn't give even a second of hesitation. She has stood...well ran by my side for the last 3 months. Never once complaining...even when she couldn't walk. She sucked it up and continued to encourage me for every single LONG mile through out training and especially during the race. She listened to "Wicked" the entire time and had a few cliff shots and was literally LEAPING with energy as she motivated me to keep going. She would remind me that Jack was with us. She would help set mini goals of passing people. She even had words of kindness as she'd tell me how much I have improved along the way. She even put up with my endless supply of excuses as to why I HAD to stop. I wanted to quit...believe me. Getting a stomach bug the morning of the race MAY have had something to do with that! It's a little known fact that running 13.1 miles and stomach bugs...don't mix very well! So, I took a few more potty breaks than I had intended...but hey I finished! I may have finished about 1/2 hour longer than I had originally anticipated...but I crossed that finish line. I did it! I don't know that I'll EVER do it again...but I feel good. I have learned that my body can handle the run as long as my mind says it's possible. I've learned that I don't want to be a long distance runner! 6 miles sounds just about right! :)
I've learned that when I pray to my Heavenly Father for help...He sends it! It may not always be in the way that I want...but He never leaves me alone. Even in our darkest hours we're NEVER alone. I wonder what it would look like if we could really see all the help He actually sends. If we could see just how often His hands are constantly part of our daily lives. I bet we'd re-think how we handle some situations. I met a woman a few months back that at the time was dealing with a situation in which her child was at Primary Children's. It wasn't a life-theatening situation and her child was going to recover. She asked me if losing Jack brought us closer to the Lord. I told her that it not only brought us closer as a family, but that our relationshiop to the Lord was stronger than I think we could have ever imagined. She went on and on about Primary Children's and how "awful" it was. Then she asked me how long we were there with Jack. When I told her only a few hours, she replied with "LUCKY...we've been here for over a month." LUCKY???!!!...did she really say that I kept asking my self as she rattled on and on and on!!! She told me that her ordeal really shook their family up and that they really struggled with even going to church. Their faith was obviously shaken. But what I couldn't understand was that her child would eventually come home. Her child never went into a irreversable coma. After she left, of course I had a break down. But after it was over I thought about it...and realized that I WAS LUCKY! Lucky because the Lord gave us a trial...a trial that I hope no one we know has to yet endure, and we held on. We clung to the Lord and relied on him. We finally we able to truly understand just how important the Atonement is. And just how much we need Him. He's been there every single step of the way. But especially when it's been hard...harder than we thought even humanly possible. He NEVER left. I feel for this mother, because the Lord gave her the opportunity to come closer unto Him and she decided to go another direction. I often think of her when things get tough. When I miss Jack so much I can hardly breathe. I think that while we lost something that can only be compared to losing a limb, we chose and continually choose to gain something amazing from a loving and kind Heavenly Father.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Ah, St. Patrick's Day. A day of celebrating our Irish roots by making everything green. This morning Corbin, Jade and I got up early to make some green pancakes. Corbin was so concerned about being pinched at school today that he not only wanted to wear his green shirt, but he wanted us to buy him green pants and shoes. Maybe next year buddy.

Jade was just happy to be part of the party and to shove as many pancakes into his mouth as babily possible.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

Corbi-Mac-a-doodle and his little admiror

I have been such a slacker in regards to the blog lately...SORRY! I know I need to get back on the ball because I'm forgetting all the fun things that go on in the day to day scheme of things.

Corbin is getting so big! He is sooo funny! He comes up with the funniest things to say. The other day I asked him...

Mom: Corb, what do you think about us having another baby someday? (**DISCLAIMER**In a few years at least...not any time soon)

Corb: Ya...that sounds like a good Idid (Idea).

Mom: What do you think we'll have? A girl baby or a boy baby?

Corb: Ummm....prally a girl baby.

Mom: Really, a girl huh? What should we name her?

Corb: SALLY!

Mom: Sally? Hmmm....I don't know about that.

Corb: Oh please mom...please...it's my FAVORITE!

Yesterday Cobe took us to lunch. We decided on Sushi. I told Corbin that we we're having sushi for lunch and he said: "SMOOSHI...I HATE SMOOSHI"

He absolutely ADORES Coby...let's be honest...who doesn't? Right? Anyway, one while we were driving I had Corbin call Coby and say, "Dad...be a MAN and come home." It was pretty funny. But then Coby said to me..."you really shouldn't teach him bad things..." So NOW Corbin tells me ALL THE TIME..."Mom...why did you teach me bad things to say?!!"

As we were picking the name Jaden...we talked about what nicknames we'd call him. I thought of everything from "Jades...to jader-bader-butter-bug". But the ONLY nickname I didn't like was..."J.J." Corbin is such a stinker and quite the tease...
don't know where he got that!! But since he knows that I don't like it, he goes around saying..."Hiiiiii Jay Jay...." Only instead of looking at Jaden when he says it...he looks directly at ME! Seriously, this kid is already getting the knack of pushing my buttons...and he's only 4!!!

My dad taught him to say..."Where's my dinner WOMAN" Thanks dad! :) So, he's constantly telling my mom and I that.

I don't know why but he calls my cute friend Melissa Higley...just Higley. He'll say..."Mom...is Higley coming over?" Weird.

I love that he says...."When it's good morning time...."

He loves to act like a little puppy. He'll get down on all fours and say in the cutest little voice..."AAARF..." Then I'll ask him little questions like..."Are you a little puppy?" To which he'll reply..."Aaarf...and nod his little head." Then I'll ask him another question like, what should we do today little puppy. And he'll say.."Aaarf" and then in a higher pitched voice...he'll say whatever it is that he wants to do." That probably doesn't make a ton of sense...Cobe and I know what I'm saying....**Disclaimer** - He is very fluent in the the language of "Tiff-en-ese". **
And after all, this blog is meant to be our little journal.

He LOVES taking baths with Jadesy. It's really quite cute. Jades is really sitting up well and is discovering that he LOVES the play in the tub with his big brother. He's learned to clap his cute, chubby little paws...I would say hands...but clearly they are PAWS! I took him for dr.'s appt. and this kid was 22lbs! 22? That's a lot...still not as much as Jackie...but still quite the little chunkskin! :)

Jaden absolutely LOVES to be near Corbin. So, did Jackie. Like Jack, just having Corbin within an eyes view is all he needs to turn his frowy face upside down.

Here Corbin is imitating the ice skating segment of the Olympics. It was pretty funny! And if that's not funny enough for you...just hearing Jaden laugh should really do you in! :)

Our poor little Jades has had a plugged tear duct since he was born. Dr. Cramer said that 90% of them clear up in 6 months...so when 6 months came and went and we still had that gross goopy eye. We decided to get it fixed. The Dr. enrolled him in a case study for infants with plugged tear ducts. They randomized us and told us we'd either have them do the procedure there which consisted of actually using an instrument to break the membrane in Jaden's tear duct gland that was causing the blockage or we'd have to give him drops for 6 months! 6 months??? I can hardly manage giving him antibiotics for 10 days. We lucked out and they told us they were doing the procedure there. They gave him some drops to numb it...then strapped him down to a board and went to town. Jaden was more than ticked and he let me know it for the rest of the day. They said it didn't hurt him, and that he was more mad than in pain...but still I had to watch them do it. It sucked...but not nearly as bad as watching nurses trying to find a vein on Jack to draw blood at his 12 month check up. My sister was there and she had to help them because I was pretty useless. After Jack ordeal...I remember going into the bathroom and crying because I felt so bad for him. Poor baby! Maybe I'm less sensitive...because I didn't cry when Jaden got his procedure done. I felt bad...but it was like when you watch them get shots. At any rate, they did a GREAT job and my cute baby can finally see out of his beautiful blue eyes. Although it still doesn't stop EVERYONE from saying..."Oh...he's so sleepy...it looks like he's ready for his nap." I seriously get it probably 3 times DAILY! He's NOT tired...he just has little eyes! :)

That's all for now....stay tuned...more to follow!

January...a bit late!!

Me and my "Bred Bred" aka Ryan

A few "weeks" ago my best friend Ryan flew in for a visit all the way from cold cold Michigan. Where do I begin to talk about Ryan...my little
Breddy McBred Bred?!! I LOVE this girl! We have been friends since the 10th grade. That's a LONG time! We've figured that we've been friends for MORE than half our lifetimes. She has always been there for me. She's one of the hardest workers I know. She gives her whole heart and soul into anything and everything she does. She's so talented and kind and generous. She's had some hard times, but you'd never know, because she's constantly putting everyone else first instead of herself. When Jack passed away, she dropped everything and flew out here without even so much of a hesitation. She's stuck with me through thick and thin. We've laughed so hard we've cried! Especially when she dances in the car! That's one I wish I had the camera for! I keep trying to convince her that she should just join the church and marry a cute little mormon boy. I love that she still sends Coby "Napolian Dynamite" stuff for every birthday and christmas. She cracks me up!One of the things I love most about her is that I can totally be myself with her and always have. She's like one of my sisters. I love you Bred...wish we lived closer.

Super Bowl Sunday

Can you tell which team we voted for?!! Some may say that I sold out my home team of the Saints. I say I HATE football, so it didn't really matter! But it's always fun to have a party! Even if it's centered all around Football. It was really fun to see Corbin get into with his hero...his daddy! Even
Jadesy got in on the action with a little Colts Jersey. Wish Jack were there to get a Jersey...maybe he could have had whoever the Colt's defensive lineman...aka the "big guy". It's times like these that my heart aches so much to have him near. Not for me...but for Coby's sake and for the sake of his brothers. How fun it would be to have all 4 of my boys hanging out, just being boys. The millennium can't come soon enough. I often wonder just how much of a role he still plays in our lives. I'm sure it's quite a bit...definitely more than we think. Sometimes I just wish I had some sort of time line or date as to when I'll get to see him again. A goal...a finish line to look forward to. I'm running a 1/2 marathon in a few weeks. I've been training for months. It's been hard, but I know that as soon as I cross the finish line all the hard work I've put into it will all be worth it. That's kind of how I feel about seeing Jack again. I am so willing to give my ALL...to work HARD for that amazing moment when we can both see each other across the "finish" line. Ughhhh..... how long is this race???!!! I want to quit. I'm so tired. I miss him so much. I hate that he's gone. I know it's stupid to ask "why"...it won't change anything. It won't bring any sort of peace. But why do some get the miracles they so desperately seek and continue onto their happily ever after? And others just aren't given that opportunity? One day I'm sure it will all make sense. But right now, tonight...I'm missing my beautiful, happy little toe head.

New Years in St. George

The "Gang"... Minus a few! (Stevensons, Archibalds, Riches, my adorable sister Som, Helgesen's and the Hansen's.)

Scotty celebrated his 7th birthday at Pirate Island Pizza. Happy Birthday Scotty!

Me and my Kimmy!

I love Sommer's hair! Very cute on her!

And what kind of trip would it be if we didn't get a shot of Lance eating??!!

Even Lanae and her cute family were there. I was so happy to get to play...even though it wasn't for long. I love this girl and can never get enough of her! Sometimes I wish we were still roommates...although, I'm sure she'd NEVER wish that again! :) I wasn't exactly the best roommate....Amy and Kerstin would definitely back me up me up on that one!

The boys were nice and took all the kids to the pool to swim while the girls headed out to shop!

We always have such a ball getting together. Everyone meshes so well and I can't wait to play again soon! We missed the Sieb's, but are sure they will be there next time!

Christmas 2009

Hi all, it's Coby. I know it's been a while since we've blogged and I know we really need to catch up on this thing. So I've taken it upon myself to try to get caught up. Here goes:

Christmas last year came and went so fast that we blinked and almost missed it. Between managing time between the two families, working and shopping I'm amazed that we even had a chance to relax for a bit. For us the Christmas festivities started on Christmas Adam (December 23rd.. Adam came before Eve:) with my families Christmas dinner.
The grand kids put on a nativity (Jaden was the sheep and Jackie was the angel) for us and we had a nice time exchanging presents with each other. Christmas eve we mostly spent with Tiff's family while Amber was in town from Michigan. Corbin and I spent some time together getting hair cuts and going to lunch. It's nice to have a few hours where it's just the two of us. After that we spent some time up at the cemetery decorating a tree for Jackie. It's always hard to go up there no matter what time of year, but Christmas is especially tender.

Corbin was especially sweet with this moment. He kept saying, "we miss you Jackie". It just breaks my heart to hear stuff like that. After the cemetery we went to go see Cloudy with a chance of meatballs at the dollar theater. It was a nice way to cheer up the day and spend some fun time together. That night we all went to the Larsons for Christmas dinner. After the easiest bedtime coercion of the year we went to work. Tiff was working late on projects so I got all the wrapping done and still had time to enjoy the end of White Christmas. The next morning we were up at the crack of dawn wondering if Santa had actually made an appearance.
Much to the delight of Corbin, Santa made a visit to our house. After 30 minutes of fierce unwrapping we were ready for a big breakfast. Jaden was just happy to play with the wrapping paper and the tags from clothes.
Corbin and I went off to play with his new toys while mommy and her sisters caught some zzzz's.
After a nice nap (for Tiffany) we went to my folks house for more festivities. It's tradition that we all line up youngest to oldest before we go in to see if Santa came. The line is getting longer and longer every year.
I love this picture of Jades with Honey and Marse.Corbin was definitely a happy camper on Christmas. He is already asking when Christmas is coming again. Every day.
New Years in St. George coming soon.

Breakfast with Santa

This year a few weeks before Christmas, Joanne aka Honey arranged for Santa to make a special visit to her house. It was really cute. The food was great, the company was even greater and the kids had a ball! We love you Honey!
